We are seeking for volunteers who can help teach Digital Competency Skills to our community members
Due to COVID-19 pandemic very many employees in Kenya have been advised to work remotely from home,very many students are now advised to do their academic asignments from home due to lack of Digital skills proviciency in our community members we decided to start a program called DIGITAL COMPETENCIES
PROGRAM
so as to teach our community members who includes persons in and out of school Digital skills on how to use Digital devices such as Smartphones,laptops,desktops internet etc to work or study remortely.The program was developed by NGO MONDO from Estonia under the EUROPEAN DIGITAL COMPETENCE FRAMEWORK (DigComp) The program has 5 key elements namely

  1. Information and Data literacy (understanding ones information needs and finding relevant digital content;storing,managing and organizing content)
  2. communication and collaboration (communicating and collaborating digitally and managing ones digital identity and reputation)
  3. digital content creation (creating and editing digital content)
  4. Safety(protecting personal data and privacy in digital environments)
  5. Problem solving( identifying and resolving problems,using digital tools to innovate)
The DIGITAL COMPETENCIES PROGRAM which we intent to spread to as many community members of Kakamega county in Kenya as possible was compost with input from experts from Tallinn Universitys School of Digital Technologies in collaboration with NGO Mondo.
in the month of June 2021 upto August 2021 NGO Mondo sent us 3 Volunteers from Estonia who helped us to initiate the Digital Competencies Program in our organization. But since their volunteership expired we kindly seek to recruit Volunteers from your noble Organization VOLUNTEERMATCH who can volunteer to continiously run our program.

Description

PAPO (People Against Poverty) is a community non-profit organization, based in Shianda Mumias, Kenya.

The organization was established in 2014, but later legally registred under the laws and regulations of the Republic of Kenya by passionate members of the Mumias East sub county community in Kakamega county Kenya, who believed that through education, awareness and with collaborative effort poverty can be eliminated and be a thing of the past.

Since then PAPO has launched a number of projects, focusing on computer training, sustainable food production, health advocacy by doing ANTI JIGGER campaigns and environmental conservation through planting of Environmental friendly trees to both help conserve environment and increase world forest cover.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be at least 19
  • Orientation or Training
  • The volunteers will work for at least 3 hrs per day from Monday to Friday excluding Saturday, Sundays and all public holidays
  • We do not have very strict requirements but we pray that the volunteers will enjoy working with us learn a lot from Kenya and be able to share the experiences back home.
