Green Star of Interior Alaska welcomes volunteers to come into our warehouse on Saturdays from noon to 4 pm to help disassemble, dismantle, and sort electronics for recycling. There are many different tasks for varied skill and interest levels; from sorting batteries and cutting cords off devices to separating components from computers into categories for recycling.

Saturday workdays are conducted in our warehouse, it may be chilly and dusty. Please wear old clothes and closed-toe shoes, training and gloves will be provided.

A local non-profit that encourages and enables our community to reduce waste and increase recycling.


We conduct electronics recycling volunteer opportunities in our warehouse; provide recycling services at various community festivals and special events including the Tanana Valley State Fair and the Midnight Sun Festival; publish the Fairbanks Recycling Guide annually; and provide additional education and outreach about recycling and waste reduction.

  • Must be at least 14
  • Volunteers generally work 4 hour shifts, but a shorter or a longer shift are fine too.
  • The minimum age for volunteering in our warehouse is 14 years of age. Anyone 14 to 18 years old must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
