Join our "green" initiative to get donated and recycled books into the hands of other appreciative readers and keep them out of the landfill! Eager volunteers who will lend a hand and a few hours of their time are anxiously awaiting the next team leaders to coordinate the sales and raise money for the library! Our storage is overflowing, and our organized process is just waiting for Day Captains. The Friends of the Library are actively focused on growing the next generation of community volunteers to assist during the excitement and challenge of bringing a new library to Victor-Farmington residents.

Mission Statement

The Victor Farmington Library promotes and nurtures a sense of community by offering the space and resources for educational, recreational, and cultural enrichment for patrons of all ages.

Description

The Victor Farmington Library has been in existence since 1939. The library’s current 9,000-square-foot home was completed in 1996. The Victor and Farmington area is one of the fastest growing regions in the county. This public library’s role in the community is only going to increase and become more important as a welcoming meeting place for everyone and a center for the entire community.

The library staff provide access to information for the inquisitive and assistance for the perplexed. A member of the Pioneer Library System, VFL boasts the one of the largest circulations in the 42-member cooperative library system at the lowest cost per circulation. Numerous volunteers assist with various projects at the library, ranging from shelving materials and placing plastic covers on new books. Community volunteers are needed year-round to help with fundraising and special events, including an art auction and a craft fair.

For nearly 30 years, the library has also been supported by the Friends of the Victor Farmington Library. This membership organization has annually provided extra funds to underwrite programs for children and families, offered book discussions, and purchased furnishings for the library. The Friends always welcome new members and dedicated community-minded volunteers. The Friends especially encourage individuals to join the organization who are tech savvy or wish to assist with fundraising. We also are looking for advocates to educate the community and elected officials about all the library has to offer.
