Hold a hand. Play cards. Tell a Story. Make memories.
Do you have an hour each week to change a life? Are you ready for a life enriching experience? Is helping others especially gratifying for you? Do you enjoy a "behind the scenes" position, helping administratively?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, being a hospice volunteer may be of interest. Those entrusted to all hospice programs are entitled by federal law to benefit from volunteerism and RVNAhealth is a great place to have positive impact. There is no minimum time requirement or obligation to specific tasks; you choose what type of service is right for you and we accommodate it as best we can. There are two types of hospice volunteer opportunities, both which require an intensive training, as required by law. They are:
Family Support Volunteer - interact with patients and their families by providing patient companionship or respite (rest) for a loved one by running errands or being there when they can’t. Family Support Volunteers provide no medical or personal care to patients, and visit our patients wherever they call home.
Administrative Volunteer - provide administrative support through organizing and ordering supplies, assembling marketing and new patient materials, and other general office duties. Administrative Volunteers typically have no patient contact, and help in both our Ridgefield and New Milford offices.
A thorough screening is done for all volunteers, including a background check. For more information or to receive a call from the hospice volunteer coordinator, please visit us online: rvnahealth.org/support-us/volunteer, or email our hospice volunteer coordinator Stephanie at speppe@rvnahealth.org.

Description
RVNAhealth (formerly RVNA or Ridgefield Visiting Nurse Association) is a private, non-profit, mission-driven organization founded and focused on care. While our name and services have evolved since our founding as a home health care agency in 1914, our guiding principles have remained steadfast: a mission to serve, exceptional patient care, and a commitment to excellence in quality and service.
Today, RVNAhealth provides lifelong health care and wellness services and the support and resources to maintain your highest possible level of health, and improve your quality of life and well-being. In collaboration with other healthcare professionals including your own, we provide care to serve all ages, stages and levels of health. This care is offered through our four families of services collectively referred to as 'The Wells"
Our experienced team of caregivers provides home health care services in the comfort of your 'home’ whether it is a private residence, assisted living or skilled nursing facility, or hospital, and also in our 'home’ at the Center for Exceptional Care in Ridgefield, Connecticut, and across the 35+ communities we serve.
