Thank you for your interest in our citizenship teacher opportunity! We are excited that you are considering Light of Hope as the place to invest your time and talent for the good of our community.
As a vritual citizenship teacher in our Citizenship Prep Course (CPC), you will help our international students prepare for their citizenship with knowledge of U.S. History and Civics. You will also help our students with speaking, reading, and writing in English through the use of flashcards, leading class discussions, and providing interview practice.
Please note that preivous citizenship or immigration experience is NOT required! We provide you with everything you will need in class. The weekly course materials are provided at the beginning of the week, and the virtual classes usually take about 2 hours to teach the material.
Our next 12-week semester will run from the week of September 26th through the week of December 19th.
We know that volunteering is a commitment so we set our class times for days that work the best with our teachers' schedules! Please let us know if you have additional questions: edu@lohimmigration.org

Mission Statement
To advocate for Family Reunification by compassionately serving low-income families with their legal immigration challenges.
Description
Light of Hope Immigration Law Center was established in 2006 to provide legal services to low-income immigrant families Over the years the agency has helped reunify hundreds of families, found scholarships for DACA students, offered FREE citizenship classes in the Plano area, and provided a variety of Informative Sessions, and citizenship and DACA workshops. We've celebrated with hundreds of new citizens, educated the community about citizen rights, and cried when families see each other after years of separation. Our goal is to provide legal services to immigrants for a fee they can afford - and when they can't, to have resources that help us compassionately meet the needs of families who have immigration challenges.
