ORGANIZATION: Project PLASE

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.

Project PLASE is seeking 5 or more regular volunteers to help with our Clothing Closet. The closet is free to all in our community - regardless of their living situation. It is open Wednesdays and Thursdays from 12nn to 3 pm.

The tasks are easy and would be a great way to engage with our community while being helpful:

  • Sort through donated clothing, shoes, and other items for reuse
  • Hang up those items to go into the Closet
  • Bag up those items that are not fit for usage for textile recycling
  • Monitor the Closet to ensure COVID protocols (no more than 3 in a closet)
  • Keep clothing racks tidy and the floors clear
  • Replace any racks that are empty with new clothing from the sorting room
  • Use of data log to track the Community's usage of the Closet
Give back while helping someone find clothing for a job interview, a wedding, a family event, or just to have clothing. Some of our residents come in with only the clothing on their bodies. This Closet helps so many. Your help would go a long way to bringing independence and dignity back to their lives.

About Project PLASE

Location:

3601 Old Frederick Road, Baltimore, MD 21229, US

Mission Statement

Project PLASE addresses homelessness in Baltimore through our transitional and permanent housing programs coupled with a continuum of housing and services to meet the special physical, mental, and emotional needs of residents. We strive to move individuals from crisis to housing stability by treating, restoring, and rehabilitating the whole person and empowering each individual to function at his or her highest level possible.

Description

The goal of Project PLASE’s transitional housing program is to house and serve homeless citizens in 24-hour supported supervision and case management with a focus on helping the individual function at the highest level.

We provide residents with three meals daily plus snacks, linens, bus tokens, assistance with medical appointments, and clothing as needed - making it easier for residents to focus on getting back on their feet.

Each resident is assigned a counselor for assistance and support. Active case management is given to assist the individual to meet his/her needs, move beyond their crisis situation, and avail him/herself of community based services and resources as appropriate.
