Join Team Special Care for this special volunteer opportunity to help at The Eversource Hartford Marathon and Half Marathon. It takes more than 2,000 volunteers to support race week activities.

Volunteer Amenities:

Course Monitors and Baggage Volunteers: Lightweight, custom zippered vest in unisex sizes. Breakfast and coffee will be provided. Expo Volunteers: short sleeve t shirt and a meal during their shift. All Course Monitor volunteers earn $10 off a future HMF Event or online Merchandise. All other Volunteers earn $5 off a future HMF Event or online Merchandise.

Volunteer Activity Information:

Volunteer Activity - Hartford (Downtown): AM Course Monitors (looking for 25 volunteers) - must be 16 yrs old +

  1. Time: 7:00am-11:00am
  2. Description: Direct and cheer runners on the race course
  3. Location: Downtown Hartford
  4. Check in Location: Volunteer Tent, Bushnell Park, Hartford

Volunteer Activity - Food Tent (looking for 15 volunteers) - must be 14 yrs old +

  1. Time: 7:00am-11:00am
  2. Description: setup food for runners and keep food bins filled
  3. Location: Bushnell Park, Hartford
  4. Check in Location: Volunteer Tent, Bushnell Park, Hartford

Volunteer Activity - Baggage (looking for 3 volunteers) - must be 14 yrs +

  1. Time: 5:00am-9:45am
  2. Description: collect and store runner baggage and then return items post-race
  3. Location: Inside the Bushnell Performing Arts Center, 166 Capitol Avenue, Hartford
  4. Check in Location: Volunteer Tent, Bushnell Park, Hartford

Volunteer Activity - Registration (NOT Shirt Distribution) at the Packet Pickup Expo (looking for 2 volunteers)

  1. Time: Thursday, October 12 (3:15pm-7:30pm) and Friday, October 13 (10:15am-3:30pm and 3:00pm-8:00pm)
  2. Description: use laptop to distribute race bib to runners
  3. Location: XL Center, Hartford
  4. Check in Location: XL Center, 1 Civic Center Plaza, Hartford

Description

Hospital for Special Care is a private, not-for-profit, 228 bed Long-Term, Acute-Care hospital licensed by the state of CT. as a chronic disease hospital. The hospital is renowned for its expertise in physical rehabilitation, respiratory care and medically-complex pediatrics. In addition, special programs are available in the treatment of spinal cord injuries and illness, acquired brain injuries, strokes and breathing disorders.

We also provide a full range of outpatient services, including physical, occupational, and speech therapy, rehabilitation evaluation, neuropsychology and pulmonary rehabilitation programs. The hospital also includes a 27,000 foot Aquatic Rehabilitation Center, which completes the full spectrum of rehabilitation and community fitness activities offered.

We also have a 28 bed satellite facility located within Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford, CT. The satellite serves patients who are medically or surgically complex and/or require specialized care.
