The Emma L. Wilson King Foundation, Inc. is organizing the 1st Annual East St. Louis Family Fun Festival on Saturday, October 9th in Jones Park (2920 Argonne Drive, East St. Louis, IL, 62201). The festivities begin with a parade starting at 10:30 am. The festival is from 12:30 pm to 6:00 pm.

The festival will include entertainment and stage acts, along with a live DJ. There will be food and business vendors, along with activities for children and people of all ages. The event is free and open to everyone.

Volunteers will be needed to assist in the following areas:

  • Carnival Assistants
  • Entertainment
  • First Aid / Medical Assistance
  • General Activities
  • Marketing
  • Park Information / Directions
  • Parade Guides / Assistants
  • Set up
  • Stage Assistants
  • Tear down

The Emma L. Wilson King Foundation is a civic and educational foundation dedicated to the enhancement of the neighborhoods and community of East St. Louis, Illinois. The Foundation is a non-profit organization that is committed to improving key elements of East St. Louis such as public parks, gardens, buildings, neighborhood organizations, and the educational enhancement of both young and old through schools (scholarships) and community centers.

The Emma L. Wilson King Foundation is a civic and educational foundation dedicated to the enhancement of the neighborhoods and community of East St. Louis, Illinois. The Foundation is a non-profit organization that is committed to improving key elements of East St. Louis such as public parks, gardens, buildings, neighborhood organizations, and the educational enhancement of both young and old through schools (scholarships) and community centers.

Key projects of the Emma L. Wilson King Foundation include the following:

Annual Coat Giveaway -Each year over 100 coats are given out to elementary and middle school children from East St. Louis schools for the cold winter months.

Annual Scholarship - Four or more high school seniors receive college scholarships each year as a part of the Emma L. Wilson King and James Henry King scholarship funds.

Restoration of the Jones Park Fountain - A principle project of the Emma L. Wilson King Foundation is the rebuilding of the historic lily pond fountain at Jones Park. Rebuilding this 80 year old fountain and its surrounding area will revitalize the community and provide a beautiful green space for generations to come.
