GCC is searching for trappers to help trap/transport and overnight cats for their appointments for spay/neuter. Trapping consists of setting live traps using tuna or sardines to bait the cat. Once the cat is inside the trap, a cover is placed over the trap to calm them down. The cat then spends the night before surgery inside a garage or another secure building/house. The next morning the cat is taken to the vet and then picked up later that afternoon. The cat must stay in a somewhat climate controlled environment the night after surgery. They next morning the cat can be re-released back to the colony in which it was trapped.
Trapping would take place in Goochland County.
No additional volunteer opportunities at this time.
About GOOCHLAND COMMUNITY CATS
PO BOX 8, OILVILLE, VA 23129, US
Here at The Goochland Community Cats, we are driven by a single goal; to do our part in making the world a better place for all. It is our goal to TNR (trap, neuter, and return) as many feral cats as we can, thus reducing the number of homeless cats in the county. The cats are also looked at by a vet and given a rabies shot and anything that it is deemed that they need. We provide daily care, freshwater, and food for all our TNR'd cats.
Goochland Community Cats is a registered 501(c)3 founded in 2014 in Goochland County, Virginia.
