Volunteers are essential in delivering quality hospice care. Our Veteran-to-Veteran Volunteer Program aims to pair recruited veteran volunteers with hospice patients who have identified as Veterans. Veteran Volunteers are so important to our volunteer program and provide an incredible amount of support and companionship to patients and their families. Volunteers can help assist with life review and healing through telling stories. Veteran Volunteers can also help patients with their veteran benefits or participate in pinning ceremonies.
When veterans interact, their common language and experience can form a strong relational bond. Hospice volunteers do not administer meds or fluids, do not transport patients or help move patients.
Currently we are still allowing in-person visits with patients. We are requiring face masks, gloves, and protective glasses to be worn during in-person visits at all times to protect our volunteers and patients.
