Volunteers are essential for delivering quality hospice care. Our Veteran-to-Veteran Volunteer Program aims to pair Veteran volunteers with hospice patients who have identified as Veterans. Volunteers can help assist with life review and healing through telling stories. Veteran Volunteers can also help patients with their veteran benefits or participate in pinning ceremonies.

When veterans interact, their common language and experience can form a strong relational bond. Hospice volunteers do not administer meds or fluids, transport, or help move patients.

As the pandemic has continued, the importance of human connection has become more vital to the quality of life for patients and their families in the dying process. Volunteers follow the local and hospice guidelines to protect themselves and the families they work with.
