Brief Description of Organization:

Diversity in Food and Beverage is the first food and beverage-focused non-profit organization (501(c)3 status pending) that internationally supports all spectrums of diversity [i.e., gender, ethnicity, age, religion, LGBTQ+, disability, veteran status, etc] by providing career guidance, scholarships, mentorships, internships, and educational seminars and resources.

Brief Description of Role:

DIFB is looking for a volunteer to provide much-needed assistance with growing our social media presence. This position will oversee and execute the engagement for our Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube platforms, for both our DIFB Main social accounts and our DIFB Pledge social accounts. This role is not responsible for content creation, rather responding to comments, sharing stories and posts, following industry influencers, interacting with industry influencers, and reaching internal goals for the number of likes, followers, etc.

Our overall intention is to increase our social media presence in order to promote and ensure that our initiatives and scholarships have adequate applicant pools. The ideal candidate is a hard-working team player who sets and obtains lofty, but realistic goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  1. Reporting platform metrics to the executive team on a weekly basis (for both DIFB Main and DIFB Pledge accounts)
  2. Analyzing engagement metrics and trends and implementing solutions based on the data
  3. Researching the "who’s who" in the hospitality industry and connecting with key players through social media platforms
  4. Help develop and manage our social media brand
  5. Brainstorm and provide ideas for social media campaigns that will attract the desired attention
  6. Maintaining appropriate tone and professionalism while interacting with people and prospects online

Qualifications Education and/or experience required:

  1. EXCELLENT written and grammar skills
  2. Proficiency in all listed social media platforms
  3. Working knowledge on how to build and execute a social media marketing strategy
  4. Experience working with Hootsuite, Canva, and Sproutsocial
  5. Experience with Airtable (not required)
  6. Fluency in GSuite products (Docs, Drive, Sheets, Slides)
  7. Ability to work remotely

Location, Days, and Hours of Volunteer Opportunity:

The location will be remote and virtual. Scheduling is flexible, according to the volunteer's availability. The position requires approximately 10-15 hours per week.

We facilitate D&I seminars at conferences in person and online for the international hospitality industry.
