Daytona Tax-Aide is a local Florida district of the national non-profit free tax service program sponsored by the AARP Foundation in cooperation with the IRS. Our volunteers help low and middle income taxpayers with special attention to those age 50 and older by providing tax counseling and preparation. We have 6 local sites in Daytona Beach, Ormond Beach, Holly Hill, South Daytona and Port Orange. Services may be in person, virtual or a hybrid of both. Training is in January with tax services from Feb. 1 to April 15 each year. We provide free tax training, materials and equipment for volunteers willing to learn to prepare tax returns and achieve IRS certification. For those with expertise in other areas, we have positions in leadership, administrative, and technical services.

COVID

Continuing our policy of protecting our taxpayer clients and our volunteers from COVID is our top priority when planning for the upcoming tax season. The AARP Foundation requires all of its sites across the country to follow CDC guidelines relevant to their specific locations.

Before last season, our services had been provided in person. Last year, to meet CDC COVID guidelines for all COVID levels across the nation, AARP Foundation developed several new methods we could use to continue our services . These processes go from in person, to hybrids of in-person and virtual to totally virtual. For the upcoming season, we will continue to implement the appropriate process based on the COVID levels at our sites.

Mission Statement

AARP Foundation serves vulnerable people 50 and older by creating and advancing effective solutions that help them secure the essentials. The AARP Foundation envisions a country free of poverty where no older person feels vulnerable. We're tackling senior poverty by sparking bold, innovative solutions that help vulnerable older adults build economic opportunity and social connectedness - fostering resilience, strengthening communities and restoring hope. The Tax-Aide program is one of these solutions. Tax-Aide offers free personal tax preparation help to people of any age with low to moderate income but with a special focus on those 50 and older. AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is a nation-wide service based in Washington DC but with locations throughout the country. We have two locations locally, one in Grass Valley and one in Lake Wildwood, as well as one location in Sierra County at Loyalton. These locations use an all-volunteer staff of client facilitators, tax counselors (preparers), technical coordinators, and administrative coordinators. Our service is completely free and open to people of any age. Volunteers receive hands-on training in tax preparation and are IRS certified. Whether you join us as a volunteer or take advantage of our tax preparation services, you will encounter a friendly, helpful, knowledgable, enthusiastic and highly functioning team of people.
