The Pensacola and Perdido Bays Estuary Program is seeking volunteers to assist with litter removal and monitoring on Jones, Carpenter, and Pond Creeks. This effort supports the Estuary Program's Trash Free Waters project, an initiative designed to remove, assess, and reduce the amount of waterborne trash in Jones, Carpenter, and Pond Creeks. Volunteers will be trained to use EPA's Escaped Trash Assessment Protocol to assess the type and quantity of trash captured by the Jones, Carpenter, and Pond Creeks' litter boom systems.
All necessary supplies will be provided. Water and snacks available during each monitoring event.
Anyone interested in participating or learning more about PPBEP or the Trash Free Waters project is encouraged to contact Molly McDaniel, mnmcdaniel@ppbep.org, or (850) 595-0796.
