ORGANIZATION: LOUISIANA ART AND SCIENCE MUSEUM INC

A Museum Docent is part of a team working under the supervision of the museum Front Line Services Manager in collaboration with the Director of Operations, Director of Education, Museum Educators, Art Curator, and Volunteer Coordinator and whose primary duties are to provide an active presence in museum galleries, security for display objects and museum property, welcoming and engaging visitor service, and visitor information. The position requires a positive professional demeanor, excellent visitor service skills and interpersonal skills. The Museum Docent must be a prompt, reliable, and collaborative team member.

The Art & Science Museum is located in a 1925 historic railway station, on the banks of the Mississippi River, in a thriving downtown area. The Art & Science Museum is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums and has an annual attendance of 175,000, with over one-half of this audience being school program participants.
