The Fundraising Chair position is a volunteer role for someone who wishes to expand on their previous experience by managing and leading our nonprofit's fundraising strategy. The chosen candidate will have the opportunity to work directly with the Board to set and achieve fundraising goals, as well as contribute to the development of future strategy. As our organization serves to connect local social emotional learning (SEL) stakeholders in Massachusetts, the ideal candidate would be a resident of Massachusetts.

As a non-profit with goals of building community and statewide awareness for Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and its impact, fostering professional learning, and advocating for state and local policies that support SEL, developing a sustainable source of monthly/annual individual donations is key to our success. The Fundraising Chair will oversee the development and execution of an annual strategic fundraising plan, secure financial support from individuals, foundations, and corporations.

Essential Duties

In coordination with the Board:

  • Develop and implement the Annual Strategic Fundraising Plan;
  • Develop an Ambassador Program to coordinate outreach to supporters;
  • Develop and lead a Fundraising Committee; and,
  • With the Executive Director, solicit gifts on behalf of the organization, and manage relationships with donors and donor prospects.

Qualifications

The ideal person will share our vision that adoption of the antiracist social and emotional learning (SEL) policies and practices will allow for Massachusetts schools and community education-serving groups to be centers of safe, caring and supportive activity where youth and adults are empathetic, resilient, civically engaged, culturally aware and responsive, and develop the skills to solve problems, manage emotions and form positive relationships with others. Further, this person is a self-starter who is passionate about working collaboratively toward a collective goal through the setting and achieving of defined targets . Former fundraising knowledge or experience and excellent strategic, analytical, and organizational skills are highly desired capabilities.

SEL4MA connects local social emotional learning (SEL) stakeholders in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to learn and share best practices, builds community and statewide awareness for SEL and its impact, supports high-quality SEL practice and professional learning, and advocates for state and local policies and funding to support SEL.
