This application is for those interested in joining Food Bank For New York City as a potential Volunteer Leader at the 2021 Food Network & Cooking Channel New York City Wine and Food Festival presented by Capital One (NYCWFF). This year's Festival will take place Thursday, October 14th - Sunday, October 17th, 2021.
The goal of the 2021 NYCWFF Volunteer Leadership Team is to help Food Bank For New York City smoothly and successfully carry out the 80+ events that will be taking place throughout the weekend. These volunteers will be holding leadership roles with much responsibility as they will be in charge of the general volunteers at the various events.
NOTE ON VOLUNTEER LEADERSHIP APPLICATION
Due to the increased responsibility of these roles, only qualified candidates will be contacted for an interview. You cannot save this application and return to it. There are (3) parts to this application: contact information, work experience (including resume upload), and NYCWFF experience.
HEALTH & SAFETY PROTOCOLS
As of July 2021, NYCWFF is requiring that all volunteers, event attendees and event staff to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. NYCWFF will abide by all city and state guidelines as it relates to event-specific COVID safety protocols and procedures. NYCWFF event guidelines and procedures will be updated as the government guidelines evolve. VOLUNTEER LEAD DESCRIPTIONS
Events are expected to take place in-person. Those interested in volunteering for leadership roles MUST: have management qualifications and experience, be punctual, team-oriented, amiable, and be able to deal with adversity calmly. All leaderships positions are volunteer roles and therefore unpaid.
- EVENT LEAD
- Liaison between Event Managers and General Volunteers
- Manage volunteers, including delegating tasks and troubleshooting when necessary
- Motivate volunteers to provide a comfortable atmosphere for event attendees
- CULINARY LEAD (Culinary Leads must have either PROFESSIONAL CULINARY EXPERIENCE or ATTENDED CULINARY SCHOOL.)
- Liaison between Event Managers and Culinary Volunteers
- Work closely with chefs and event leads to assist with culinary tasks
- Assist chef with set up, preparation, plating, clean up, and load-out
- Bring a clean chef’s jacket and your own knives if applicable
- PRODUCTION ASSISTANT
- Act as the primary liaison between Event Leads and Event Managers
- Create and manage a schedule of volunteer needs
- Must be available for a 1-2 week internship BEFORE the weekend of the Festival, to work alongside event managers during set-up
