Hope for Harvest Youth Center is a nonprofit organization that works with underserved youth and families in the Charlotte community. Our programs include a summer camp, afterschool support, a clothing closet, and holiday distribution events. We are currently in search of individuals who can supplement our afterschool program with one-on-one and small-group tutoring for our program's youth.

Ideal volunteers will be passionate about assisting underperforming children and teens in an academic setting and well-equipped to provide educational support to elementary, middle, and/or high school students.

Our staff will be providing rotating recreational activities while tutors can work with smaller groups of students on their math and/or reading goals in our computer lab and great room.

Please let us know if you are interested in learning more about the program by contacting Lacey at Lbrooks@HopeforHarvest.org or (980) 299-6001.

Volunteers may start as early as Tuesday, January 18th, 2022.

*This is an unpaid tutoring position.

We look forward to working with you!

Mission Statement

Hope For Harvest uses cultural influences and charitable resources to provide essential living items and services for Charlotte’s underserved youth, while providing an escape through music, dance and life development programs.

Description

Hope For Harvest serves as beacon of community advancement for families in the city of Charlotte North Carolina with roots expanding over 40 years. Hope For Harvest first began its start as week-long fundraiser as an effort to fund and continue the services provided by Community Outreach Christian Ministries & The Harvest Kitchen after the passing of our founder’s mother, Pastor Barbara Brewton whom founded COCM. Pastor Barbara Brewton was responsible for feeding over 100,000 families throughout the city of Charlotte, leaving an incredible trail of Hope that still lives on today.

Driven by her late mother’s philanthropic efforts and passion for the helping underserved youth, Catherine Brewton officially founded Hope For Harvest in 2016. Our recently re-dedicated youth center, the Barbara Brewton Hope For Harvest Youth Center, provides free services including after-school programs, tutorial services, nutritional guidance and performing arts programs for the youth in the community.
