Going back to school and looking for volunteer opportunities? Become a hospice volunteer and spend time visiting with hospice patients. Sit by their bedside and talk to them about their past, watch TV with them, read books to them, paint their nails, provide comfort while they sleep, etc. Your purpose is to be a friend to them in the final stages of their life!

Volunteers typically visit about once a week for an hour, or more!

In order to be a volunteer:
-16+ years old (valid driver's license and auto insurance)
-Be registered with the Missouri Family Care Safety Registry (required in the state of MO)
-Take a drug test
-Complete a 2 part TB skin test
-Complete short orientation
-Complete 3 online training modules

Our volunteers mean so much to our patients and families. This is a perfect volunteer experience for those with plans to go into the medical field to get first hand experience with those on hospice. Or for those that are retired and looking to give back to the community, spending time with hospice patients can be very rewarding.
