We’re preparing for another extremely busy disaster season and it’s critical to have a trained, ready volunteer workforce to make sure we can provide relief at a moment’s notice. This year’s wildfire season is already very active and dangerous because of the severe drought and dry woodlands across the west. And experts are predicting we could see 10 or more hurricanes in the next few months.
We need volunteers in shelter support to assist with reception, registration, feeding, dormitory, information collection, and other vital tasks to help those we serve.
Shelter volunteers will be able to deploy nationally for 2 weeks where they are needed the most.
The Red Cross will provide all the training you need as well as cover all travel, lodging and food expenses.

Description
The American Red Cross Central Appalachia Region includes all of West Virginia, plus counties in Ohio, Kentucky, Maryland and Virginia. We serve our communities every day by responding to local disasters, encouraging life-saving blood donations, preparing our communities for emergencies and providing care and comfort to an ill or injured service member or veteran or support to a military family member. 90% of our workforce are volunteers and it is through the time and care of ordinary people that we can do extraordinary things.
