It has already been an extremely busy disaster season and it’s critical to have a trained, ready volunteer workforce to make sure we can provide relief at a moment’s notice.
If anything would happen where we would need to open a Red Cross shelter, we need volunteers to assist with reception, registration, feeding, dormitory, information collection, and other vital tasks to help those we serve.

The American Red Cross Central Appalachia Region includes all of West Virginia, plus counties in Ohio, Kentucky, Maryland and Virginia. We serve our communities every day by responding to local disasters, encouraging life-saving blood donations, preparing our communities for emergencies and providing care and comfort to an ill or injured service member or veteran or support to a military family member. 90% of our workforce are volunteers and it is through the time and care of ordinary people that we can do extraordinary things.
