We have a training this month! January 16th from 12 - 1pm via Zoom! Email to register!

Dance to Unite is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that partners with after school programs to offer free dance classes combined with conversations about values that celebrate cultural diversity. The classes are offered on a weekly basis (October to June).

Dance to Unite offers its classes to elementary and middle school students (first grade to eighth grade). Each Dance to Unite class culminates with an end of the year performance. There is no professional dance or teaching experience required to volunteer with Dance to Unite.

This unique volunteer opportunity includes free training in the Dance to Unite method, which holds the opportunity to gain the experience and skill of a public school teacher. Volunteers start as an assistant teacher and could progress to become a lead teacher in their second year. This can also progress into a paid position as a Dance to Unite staff member.

Requirements of Volunteers:

  • Interest in education and dance (some dance background is needed, can be basic).
  • Passion for working with children.
  • 1 hour / week time commitment to volunteer in one of our classes from October to June.
  • Reliable and responsive communication.
  • At least 18 years of age, if under 18 years of age parent/ guardian permission is required.
  • Based in New York City.
