Volunteers are needed to read to local preschool children. Volunteers are paired with a local preschool to read in weekly or bi weekly to groups of children. Most of the assignments the volunteers are the guest story time visitor reading for around a 1/2 hour. In some cases volunteers read to small groups of children within the classroom and depending on how many groups they read to determines the length of their stay. We are looking for people who love children, are animated and can read to children effectively. As far as COVID most schools are open to visitors. Each volunteer works directly with their school and class to learn what is required. We provide clear masks if needed so the children can see the volunteers face.
Volunteers are needed in Clay, Putnam and St. Johns County, FL Training is provided and the ELC of N. Florida has a large lending library of books and materials for the volunteers to check out and use for free.
