Youth Led is a 501(c)(3) that is eagerly looking for paid interns and volunteers. Our organization is looking for individuals that have time on their hands to spare and a love for helping others, especially children. Youth Led is looking for a promise to commit. A person that would love to work with children grades K-8 for our after-school program for homework help. I am looking for a professional that will instill educational tools that all children will need to be successful in school. REMEMBER!!!! Our children are the future! Ask yourself can you commit to 2-4 hours a week Monday-Thursday at a school or when we have workshops, events and summer camp (always scheduled in advance)?

Are you the person that has a mission to reach one teach one, one that is not willing to leave a child behind?
If you are a Retired School Teacher, Paraprofessional, college student, or Substitute Teacher and you are interested please contact us youthled1@gmail.com and tell us about your experience with kids.

Thank you for your interest and we look forward to finding out more about you and your eagerness to be a part of Youth Led.

Description

All my life as a kid not one of my life’s transitional challenges were explained to me. I never felt like I had an outlet to talk about the things I was experiencing as a child before and after foster care. I didn’t feel like it was safe to share with others that I was a foster kid, I mean after all, I was still trying to figure out what was happening. The only thing I was focused on was SURVIVAL and staying out of the way.

Youth Led is designed to help middle school youth to transition through their challenges and obstacles with a education and leadership curriculum, community service projects, problem solving, critical thinking and fundraising events that will allow them to gain positive exposure and be an influence to others.

Year 1: 6th graders Self-Awareness becoming aware 2.5 hours twice a week

Students will focus on self awareness, interpersonal awareness, and self advocacy through a SELF- unit. A development curriculum on leadership through interactive activities, community service, and goal challenges. Students will understand why self awareness is important for future success. Students will also learn reading strategies for comprehension to become stronger readers. Students will participate in youth day events and creative expression workshops.
