Homebound and older adults need your help now more than ever. Meals on Wheels of Hillsborough County is seeking kitchen help at our nutrition sites throughout the county. Do you have a few extra hours each week to help provide a nutritious meal and help curb the impact of social isolation?

Kitchen Volunteers do all of the prep work before the drivers pick up their coolers and insulated bags to deliver to the clients on their routes. This includes packing the milk, bread and dessert into designated bags and sorting the entrees into coolers and insulated bags by route.

Kitchen Volunteer Requirements:

  • Available and interested in making a long-term commitment of at least six months
  • Pleasant and friendly demeanor
  • Kitchen helpers must be at least 18 years old
  • Ability to pass national criminal and Bureau of elderly and Adult Services (BEAS) background checks
  • Ability to accurately complete necessary documentation and paperwork
  • Attendance at a volunteer orientation and annual training

Meals on Wheels of Hillsborough County fosters independence and life enrichment for seniors and other qualified adults through nutrition, social engagement, and community services.

Description

Our Story Meals on Wheels of Hillsborough County began operations in 1977; in our first year, we provided 149,338 meals and safety checks, within 10 years the need for our services more than doubled, resulting in 277,382 meals and safety checks served in 1987.

Today, Meals on Wheels works with a licensed kitchen in the heart of Manchester, NH that produces over 7,000 nutritious meals each week. Meals are then delivered to numerous dining centers throughout Hillsborough County where they are sent out as Meals on Wheels to homebound, older, and disabled adults.
