ORGANIZATION: Travelers Aid Society of San Diego

Make a difference-become an advocate for seniors living in long term care settings! Help residents understand their rights and self-advocate with your assistance, encouragement, and education. The County of San Diego is looking for individuals with special gifts of compassion, organization, advocacy, and energy to work with residents of long term care facilities. Backgrounds in healthcare, the legal profession, social services, and education are all very well suited for this unique opportunity, but all interested parties can attend a no-commitment orientation session to learn more. All training and background checks are provided.

Description

Travelers Aid provides information & referral services to visitors, seniors, and to homeless individuals. Free transportation options are provided to low-income seniors. Case Management, transportation assistance, and family reunification services are provided to domestic violence victims, homeless individuals families, and to runaways. The organization recruits volunteers for the San Diego County Long Term Care Ombudsman Program, for Tourism Ambassadors, and Volunteer Drivers for low-income seniors.
