Hospice: Friendly Visits. Make Someone Smile!

Save to Favorites

Are you a student in need of community service hours, or maybe a retiree looking for a way to contribute some of your time to a good cause and reputable organization? Apply to be a Hospice of Havasu Family Assistance Volunteer, and share your compassionate heart with patients on their end of life journey!

Companionship volunteers sit with patients to support socialization in their own homes or assisted living facilities. These volunteers may read to patients, sit and have a friendly chat, or maybe walk a dog for someone who's no longer able. Respite volunteers sit with patients while their caregivers run errands or just take a well-needed break. No special skills are required for these visits, just be a good listener, and have a genuine desire to help others. Many individuals are on hospice services for several months, so you may decide to take on an assignment involving regularly scheduled visits. Other assignments are one-time-only visits, long enough to allow a caregiver or family member time to have lunch with a friend or see their own physician. We serve Mohave County, AZ, with staffed offices in Lake Havasu City and Fort Mohave.

We currently offer online training for these positions to familiarize our volunteers with the hospice philosophy, policies and procedures. We do TB and drug testing in our main office, and will run background checks also.
