ORGANIZATION: Shoebox Project for Women

The Shoebox Project for Women is a 501(c)3 charity that collects and distributes gifts and
essentials to local women impacted by homelessness in communities across the USA.

We are in a growth stage and looking for new approaches to obtaining the funds to support this growth. We are seeking a board member knowledgeable about the "industry of philanthropy" who's primary role will be to provide guidance for the development of long-term funding partnerships and fundraising plan. They will also alert staff to funding trends and opportunities to pursue.

The Board of Directors is responsible for organizational governance, which includes ensuring adequate
resources are in place to fulfill the charity’s mission, providing strategic leadership, ensuring that
the charity is complying with relevant legislation and policies, and monitoring risk and
accomplishment of goals. Members of the Board of Directors are volunteers and serve without
remuneration.

Board members commit to a three-year term, with approximately to 10-15 hours of work per
month. They attend quarterly Board meetings and committee meetings, and work in close
collaboration with the Executive Director.

The Shoebox Project for Shelters is a 501(c)(3) public charity that collects and distributes gift-filled Shoeboxes to women who are homeless or at-risk of homelessness in communities across the US. Each thoughtfully created and decorated Shoebox is filled with items that can help enhance self-esteem and reduce feelings of isolation for women in crisis.
