Volunteers of the Loads of Love project have been serving people that are struggling financially by assisting them launder their clothes and belongings. Loads of Love serves people that are living on the streets, in vehicles, or in shelters due to financial hardship. People served meet the definition of someone without a home, are food insecure and live in poverty. There has been an increased need in this service due to the impacts of the pandemic.

​Clean clothing is a basic necessity that restores human dignity, a sense of well being and self-care, physical health, and is fundamental for meeting opportunities to rise above extreme financial hardship, such as job interviews and work.

Loads of Love is looking for volunteers in Santa Barbara at a Milpas street laundromat. The event occurs once a month on the last Tuesday at 11:00 AM till 1:00 PM. Upon arrival at a laundromat, our guests are met by community volunteers that have the funds and supplies needed to launder clothing, bedding and sleeping bags. Volunteers are provided with the funds and supplies necessary to "get laundry done!" Volunteers do not handle our guests clothing. We are there to put the coins in machines and provide the laundry soap and supplies. Training is provided.
