What is Black Girl Health Foundation?

Black Girl Health Foundation, Inc is a non-profit 501c3 that creates pathways to improve the health of black women and girls through education, engagement, and empowerment.

The foundation connects with women of color through its College Ambassador Program implemented at educational institutions and communities in the northeastern region. The program helps students and women in the surrounding communities adopt healthier behaviors through nutrition and exercise.

The non-profit furthers its health impact on women and girls of color through its National Kickstart Health & Wellness Program; which includes an entire day of interactive workshops by renown health experts, doctors, health screenings, and fitness trainers to motivate women to take control of their health and give them resources to make informed decisions.

What is a BGHF College Ambassador?

The Ambassadors program promotes healthy behaviors amongst African American girls/women, with specific training on health risks, conducting educational workshops on disease prevention and health & wellness, and self-care advocacy.

Immediate Ambassador Activity: The college ambassador will report to Black Girl Health Foundation College Ambassador Manager.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Enrolled in a 2-4-year College or University of the required service area
  • Have a minimum of a 2.5 cumulative GPA (Undergraduate)
  • Have a minimum of a 2.75 cumulative GPA upon graduation from undergraduate (first year graduate students)
  • Have a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative GPA (current Graduate students)
  • Be available to work 30-40 hours per month during service time
  • Have Zoom and have access to the internet
  • Have Social Media accounts such as Facebook and Instagram.
  • Be available to work some weekend and evening events (when needed)

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Creating Social media health content
  • Research Women health awareness topics and issues effecting African American women in service area
  • Work with program such as Canva
  • Knowledge of infographics
  • Design flyers and forms
  • Digital marketing
  • Weekly Reporting

  • Strong organizational skills and sense of responsibility

  • Good writer and researcher
