Ever wanted to help save a life? This is an amazing volunteer opportunity to deliver life-saving blood to those in need. Be our mission in action by helping others when they need it most.
Blood is needed by patients in hospitals every 2 seconds. To meet this need, the American Red Cross collects, tests, and distributes blood to hospitals in the San Joaquin County. Volunteer drivers are needed 7 days/week to make sure this blood gets to patients in need.
As a Driver, you will deliver pre-packaged life-saving blood products from the American Red Cross blood center to hospitals, using a Red Cross-owned vehicle.
Time Commitment: At least 1 shift/month (typical shift is about 4 hours)
Shifts are available 7 days/week, in 4-hour blocks of time from 9am until 9pm
Qualifications:
- You need to be fully vaccinated for Covid-19 in order to volunteer for this opportunity.
- Have a valid driver's license and clean driving record
- At least 21 years old or a clean driving record for 3 years.
- Can lift a box from a vehicle to a hand cart (may weigh up to 45 lbs.)
This is a great opportunity to volunteer with a friend or family member! Drivers can be assisted by Navigators, who can ride in the vehicle and assist with directions or in any other way needed. Navigators can be any age.
