Is your beloved four-legged companion a licensed pet therapy dog?
Are you interested in sharing your pet's unique gifts to comfort and bring joy to hospice patients?
The unconditional love of an animal is so beautiful and does miracles in bringing joy, companionship, and help alleviate pain and anxiety.
If you have a pet who has gone through the process of being a License Pet Therapy animal and you and your friend have just a few hours a week to bring joy to our patients, we would love to have you on our team!
Your pet will have to provide:
- License from an accredited pet therapy program
- Proof of all up to date vaccines
- Proof of annual pet license
They will also have to:
- Be comfortable in homes and facility settings
- Be comfortable being petted
- Stay calm for a period of time
As a Pet Therapy Volunteer, you will provide needed comfort and companionship by sharing your therapy dog with Harmony Cares Hospice formerly Grace Hospice patients. This is done in a way that increases emotional well-being and improves the quality of life for the patients being visited, as well as the staff/family members who are caring for the patients.
All Volunteers are afforded specialized training, given Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed, become an integral part of the Harmony Cares Hospice care team and are provided direct support by the Volunteer Coordinator.

Description
Harmony Cares Hospice formerly Grace Hospice is seeking compassionate individuals who are willing to provide emotional support and companionship to our patients and their families experiencing Hospice. Volunteers are a vital part of the interdisciplinary team and truly are the heart of our organization. In addition to placing friendly visits, volunteers can also assist with bereavement support, caregiver relief (respite), running of errands, special event planning, veteran to veteran outreach, pet, reiki, music and massage therapies, office support - and more!
