The Nutrition & Education Content Creator will create short blogs with easy-to-do recipes that are impactful and resonate with Porchlight Community Services' clients, donors, and partners.
This role is project-based, and the timeline to complete is 2-3 weeks. During that time, the Nutrition & Education Content Creator will be expected to produce 12-24 blog posts that include easy-to-do recipes with 1-2 paragraphs introducing the recipe. Potential blog post topics include: allergy-friendly food, nutrition highlights of certain fruits and vegetables, and integrating a plant-based lifestyle. The volunteer in this role will be encouraged to develop new ideas and content as well as analyze and improve on previously posted content.
The Nutrition & Education Literacy Content Creator will be expected to exhibit strong leadership with control over their project from beginning to end. The role has the potential to shift to a long-term volunteering opportunity. This opportunity can take place either in person at Porchlight's office or remotely from home.
Opportunity Requirements & Important Notes
Application Process: Submit a resume and sample of previous work performed or portfolio after expressing interest
Required Experience: Previous experience creating blog or social media content is required.
Preferred Skills/Experience/Interest: Excellent writing skills, good organizational skills, comfort using technology, experience in nutrition, certified/student Nutritionist, and/or an interest in working with nonprofit organizations.

Description
We run a dual program that provides a FoodSHARE for struggling families and a free option for low-income families to attain food. We are helping a community disproportionately affected by food insecurity - People with generally no way of getting aid to reach self-sufficiency.
Every Thursday and Sunday, Porchlight Community Services processes over 3,000 pounds of rescued food that will be going to our community's families. Porchlight is volunteer-led, so they rely on their great community of folks that want to give back.
Porchlight provides a dignified experience for those seeking to change their circumstances and have access to nutritious food. As a "Choice pantry", their distribution events are set up like a grocery store. Clients come in and choose their food products while accompanied by a volunteer.
Volunteers help with unloading, sorting, organizing food items on tables, shelves, refrigerators, and freezers, cleaning, sanitizing, and making it comforting and appealing for those coming to "select" their items later in the day.
