Volunteers work with an assigned family to monitor and supervise weekly visits. During the 1.5 to 2.5 hour scheduled visiting time, the volunteer greets the non custodial parent while they pay for any visits, set up room or food they brought for 15 minutes. The volunteer then greets the custodial parent and children and guides the children to the room of the non custodial parent. Volunteer then monitors their interaction for the next hour or two, suggests appropriate activities when necessary, and completes an observation form. After the visit the volunteer will guide the kids to custodial parents while non custodial parent stays in room. Non custodial parent will remain in room for 15 minutes and then is allowed to leave. Trained staff members are always available to support the volunteers. An orientation session of 1 to 1.5 hours is provided to all new volunteers. Orientation continues with an opportunity to observe and co-supervise other visitations. Volunteers are then matched with a family based upon time preferences. Volunteers are asked for a four month minimum commitment, so that they and the children and families get to know each other. Substitutes are available in case of illness or vacations.
Due to COVID-19 everyone is required to wear a mask, take a temperature check/ questionnaire at the door and constantly disinfecting surfaces for the safety of staff, volunteers and the families we serve. CVP does not accept students trying to fulfill volunteer requirements for school as we need a consistent volunteer for our families to build a relationship with, thank you!

About Central Visitation Program
Location:
1660 Sherman St, Denver, CO 80203, US
Mission Statement
Central Visitation Program's mission is to provide a safe, supervised and comfortable setting for court ordered visits between children and parents of low-ncome families involved in high conflict divorce, custody and/or restraining order proceedings.
Description
Do you love children and want to keep them safe?
At CVP children and parents come together for an hour to play, chat or just be together. We believe that it is better to provide a place where children can feel protected and safe than to simply stop all contact with a parent. We have witnessed children having a good time with a parent who may have made very poor choices in his/her life. The children do seem to enjoy seeing this parent as long as they feel safe. CVP provides a supervisor who is in the room at all times and able to see and hear what is going on. This supervisor can and will intervene if there is a precieved danger, or the child(ren) seem to be in distress.
