The Spring of Tampa Bay

Opportunity for teens (14yr-18yr) residing in HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL:

The Spring of Tampa Bay's Youth Action Committee (YAC) is a volunteer organization under The Spring with goals to educate youth on dating violence and empower them to be leaders in society & among their friends.
YAC meets every other Thursday from 5:30pm-7pm over Zoom. Meetings include interactive learning activities, open discussions, and awareness projects.

The mission of The Spring of Tampa Bay, Inc. is to prevent domestic violence, protect victims and promote change in lives, families and communities.

Description

Since our founding in 1977, The Spring has provided sanctuary and services to more than 60,000 abused adults and their children.

The Spring is the Department of Children and Families (DCF) certified Domestic Violence Center for Hillsborough County. We are one of the largest of Florida’s 42 certified domestic violence centers and the first domestic violence agency in the United States to have an accredited on-site school for resident children.

The Spring’s programs and services help victims of domestic violence rebuild their lives and raise awareness to prevent domestic violence from occurring.

  • Must be at least 14
  • The Youth Action Committee typically meets every other Thursday from 5:30p-7p over Zoom. On average, this is about 3 hours a month. In February (Teen dating violence awareness month) there may be additional meetings & events (optional).
  • The Youth Action Committee is an opportunity for High School students residing in Hillsborough County, Florida.
