Be A Test Prep Tutor for Low-Income High School Students in LA

ORGANIZATION: Minds Matter Southern California

Note: This is an in-person volunteer opportunity on Saturdays during the fall semester.

Quick Overview: If you like teaching, and are passionate about helping low-income high school students improve their test taking skills, be a test prep instructor with Minds Matter SoCal! As a tutor, y ou work with a small group of students on a personalized plan to improve their scores, and can see your impact directly as students become more at ease with the tests and more confident in their ability to conquer it!

Time Commitment: Tutors are encouraged but not required to come in each weekend. At a minimum you must be able to commit 2 hours on a Saturday morning, generally from 10am to 12pm at least two Saturdays per month during the fall semester.

Mission: Minds Matter is an organization dedicated to transforming the lives of driven and determined students from low-income families with the people, preparation, and possibilities to succeed in college and beyond. Description

Minds Matter supports students in their sophomore, junior, and senior year. Our program offers a unique combination of mentoring support, group instruction, and social-emotional learning. We provide students with the resources and guidance needed to gain admission, enroll, and succeed at rigorous four-year colleges. Support continues during college with internships, professional skills-building, and access to our alumni platform.
