Southern Maine Agency on Aging’s mission is to improve the physical, social, emotional and economic well-being of elder adults in Southern Maine.
Greeter is responsible for greeting members as they arrive in the morning, assisting them with belongings and outerwear (coats, hats, boots), placing name tags on the belongings and bring them to the group activity. Greeter may also be helpful for pickup in the afternoon by letting staff know who is picking up and helping them with their belongings.
Volunteers will need the ability to work with people with some level of dementia; patience, kindness, good sense of humor. Must be able to stand for short periods of time.
Where will the volunteer(s) work?: Sam L. Cohen Adult Day Center at 30 Barra Rd, Biddeford, ME 04005
When will the volunteer(s) work?: 9-11:30am, 2:30-4:30pm Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
Length of commitment: 6 months minimum.
Assignment: Volunteers can begin right away after they attend a training. Volunteers can sign up directly by contacting SMAA Volunteer Services at volunteer@smaaa.org or 207-396-6525.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN YOUR COMMUNITY!
Southern Maine Agency on Aging Volunteer Services provides opportunities to make a difference in the community through volunteer service. Volunteers contribute anywhere from a few to over forty hours a week, serving through schools, meals on wheels, hospitals and other nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community needs. We offer maximum flexibility and choice to our volunteers. RSVP matches the personal interests and skills of the over age 55 volunteer to opportunities in selected imapct service areas to help solve community problems. RSVP volunteers receive supplemental insurance while on duty, and on-the-job training from the agency or organization where they are placed.
