Southern Maine Agency on Aging’s mission is to improve the physical, social, emotional and economic well-being of elder adults in Southern Maine.
Seeking volunteers to act as a liaison between the Phone Pal program, Meals on Wheels site, clients, and volunteers. This individual will send updated Phone Pal client list to Meals on Wheels site. Will also be responsible for reporting concerns from clients and volunteers alike, regular check-in calls with clients, and referring interested Meals on Wheels clients to Matching Project Manager.
This volunteer should be a team player with strong interpersonal skills and excellent phone communication skills. Basic computer knowledge and familiarity with Microsoft Excel is required. Individual will maintain client and SMAA confidentiality. Interest working with an aging population is a plus.
Where will the volunteer(s) work?: Will be able to work from home.
When will the volunteer(s) work?: Flexible schedule Monday-Friday, 3-5 hours per week. Hours will be dictated by the volume of client/volunteer issues.
Length of commitment: 6 months - 1 year.
Assignment: Volunteers can begin right away after they attend a training. Volunteers can sign up directly by contacting SMAA Volunteer Services at volunteer@smaaa.org or 207-396-6525.

Southern Maine Agency on Aging Volunteer Services provides opportunities to make a difference in the community through volunteer service. Volunteers contribute anywhere from a few to over forty hours a week, serving through schools, meals on wheels, hospitals and other nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community needs. We offer maximum flexibility and choice to our volunteers. RSVP matches the personal interests and skills of the over age 55 volunteer to opportunities in selected imapct service areas to help solve community problems. RSVP volunteers receive supplemental insurance while on duty, and on-the-job training from the agency or organization where they are placed.
