Want to make a difference in someone's life through teaching?
Caminando Juntos, a Hispanic Ministry Center in Sioux Falls, is seeking patient, friendly, and experienced individuals willing to teach English in our adult ESL program for Spanish-speakers. Classes meet twice per week (Tu/Th) for a period of 10 weeks, dates to be determined by teacher availability. Teachers should be committed to attending every class for the duration of the term as well as a pre-session training and orientation. Substitutes are available in the case of emergencies.
Teachers will follow a designated curriculum, but will have the flexibility to create their own classroom activities and lessons. Ongoing training, support, and teaching materials will be provided in order to make their job easy and rewarding. Teachers should be open to working with diverse cultures and would preferably have some teaching and/or tutoring experience. Bilingualism (Spanish - English) is preferred.
This is a great way to give back to the community and to help new immigrants learn the skills they need to be successful.
Please contact Educational Coordinator, April Ross, for more information or to request an application at (605)-274-3735. Email: aross@midconetwork.com

Mission Statement
Caminando Juntos, sponsored by the Aberdeen Presentation Sisters, is a ministry with the Latino population in the Sioux Falls, South Dakota area. Inspired by the zeal of our foundress, Nano Nagle, and her deep love for those made poor, Caminando Juntos responds to the Gospel mandate to "welcome the stranger." Our primary purpose is to help create a welcoming presence and respond to the needs of newer Latino immigrants as they seek to integrate into a new culture and make a home among us.
Description
Caminando Juntos assists newly-arrived Latino immigrants with basic necessities (food, clothing, furniture, housing, employment), orientates them on community resources and social services, assists in completing applications (healthcare, social services, employment), provides comprehensive immigration legal services, offers adult education classes and opportunities (English, computers, special interest topics), and advocates with community partners on issues that impact immigrants and refugees.
