Mentor Me North Georgia, Inc.

The Mentoring After School (MAS) program is an after-school homework help mentoring program for elementary school students. Our volunteers are teens and adults who commit to mentoring a child once per week for one hour at one of our multiple locations from September through April in accordance with the school calendar. Our locations are at Forsyth Central High School (M 4:30, Tu 4:30), Sawnee Elementary School (W 5:00, TR 4:30), and Chestatee Elementary School (Tu 4:30). Our children are between kindergarten through 5th grade and most speak English as a second language. They come to MAS for homework help, academic skill development and benefit from socializing with their mentors through fun games and science activities.

About Mentor Me North Georgia, Inc.

101 Meadow Drive Suite J, Cumming, GA 30040, US

Mission Statement

To connect youth to positive role models, to help them grow into healthy and productive adult members of our community.

We have 3 programs:

Community-Based Mentoring is the traditional mentoring relationship for children 6 - 17. It’s about one-to-one time spent with the volunteer and child doing things they enjoy like soccer, crafts, movies, or the park. The schedule is 1 hr/week and flexible to the needs of the mentors and children. Some meet on weekends, in the evening or after school. Through regular, consistent time together, kids gain confidence, exposure to new ideas, and respect for others while learning others care about them. Our youth live in Forsyth County and we prefer Mentors live nearby so that meeting once a week doesn't become a strain!

Club CONNECT is a group mentoring program that exists to equip, encourage, and empower students to be their best selves through connecting with themselves, peers, and adults. Connect is at local middle-high schools with volunteers who follow a curriculum of weekly small and/or large club gatherings. Volunteers serve as mentors through speaking to large groups or facilitating small group discussion. Other volunteers also teach life skills.

Mentoring After School (MAS) is an after-school, site-based mentoring program for K-5th grade ESOL students. MAS helps children who could benefit from time with a mentor to build their academic and/or social skills, offering a laid-back opportunity for volunteers and children to get to know each other. We meet 1 hour/week at various locations where we have homework help & games.
