What is Girls on the Run?

Girls on the Run inspires girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running. That said, we are so much more than running!
We believe every girl deserves a place to grow, connect and shine. Social-emotional learning is the cornerstone of our program. Meeting twice a week in small teams, our curriculum blends physical activity with skill development and has a demonstrated lasting impact, especially in the areas of confidence and positive connections.

Girls on the Run Portland Metro was established in 2007 and has served more than 6,500 girls in Multnomah, Washington, Clackamas and Clark Counties. We have grown to serve 100+ teams annually across those four counties.

Interested in Joining the Board of Directors?

• Girls on the Run of Portland Metro seeks interested candidates to serve on our board for terms beginning in December 2021 and June 2022.
• Our volunteer board of directors act as ambassadors to the community. They engage with the organization through staff and programmatic support, fundraising, financial oversight, strategic planning, and marketing and communication.
• Among other responsibilities, board members for Girls on the Run of Portland Metro actively participate in bi-monthly meetings, engage on committees to advance our mission, and serve as volunteers as needed throughout the year.
