The Salvation Army is looking for volunteer that can help in the kitchen during the week. The hours are 9:30-12:30. The kitchen is open Monday-Friday. We will work with your schedule to find the days that work for you.
The volunteer would help in the following areas:
- Help assemble tin containers that serve meals to our Community Centers in Akron.
- Serve the public in our gym in a cafeteria style setting.
- wipes and sanitizes kitchen and volunteer area
- fold towels for our kitchen and shower program
- prepare supplies that go out to our hot meals program
This position does not require you to lift much but may need to be on your feet at times time to do tasks.
Position could evolve to help in others areas if the volunteer wants to cross-train at our pantry.

Description
The Salvation Army of Summit County offers a wide variety of programs to persons in need across the county. With free groceries and hot meals, families and individuals can stay well nourished. Utility assistance is on hand to people who have a disconnection notice on their gas or electric. At the Child Development Center, preschool children learn basic skills necessary to enter and excel in kindergarten. The Learning Center, an academic after school program provides homework help as well as time for creative outlets. Children and youth participate in character building programs fostered through an array of recreational activities, music and spiritual guidance. Seasonal giving programs allow low income families to enjoy and celebrate the holidays with donated gifts and food. More than twenty thousand individuals are served through our centers in Summit County.
