City of Oakland's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program
Volunteer (In-Person Opportunity at Downtown Oakland Senior Center) English, Spanish and Chinese
Purpose: A general volunteer assists with miscellaneous tasks in accordance with VITA services. The volunteer may copy and scan taxpayer's documents and provide additional office support to tax preparers and site coordinators.
Responsibilities and duties:
Monitor and operate office machines such as photocopiers, scanners, and printers.
Adhere to IRS Quality Site Requirements, including maintaining taxpayer privacy and confidentiality standards, and code of conduct.
Communicates with individuals in a respectful manner.
Time commitment (4 hours per day):
2023 - Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays (9:00am - 1:00pm)
**Required: Proof of Covid-19 Vaccination

Description
The Alameda County-Oakland Community Action Partnership was established under the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 to fight America's War on Poverty. Alameda County - Oakland Community Action Partnership (AC-OCAP) is part of broad national and statewide network of nearly 1,100 agencies, both non-profit private and public organizations, that extend across the United States-all working to eliminate poverty on a local and national level. CAP involves local citizens in its effort to address specific barriers to achieving self-sufficiency.
AC-OCAP is committed to reducing poverty by providing services and programs targeted to low-income individuals and families. AC-OCAP has been funding programs and projects in the low-income community since 1971.
