Volunteers needed to support Southern Comfort Animal REscue! We have been bringing dogs to NJ for almost 20 years now with the help of our family of volunteers. We need foster homes, help with adoption events, social media support, ideas and energy for fund raising. We are a group of 15+ committed and friendly people and would welcome you into our fold. For fostering, you make a short term commitment and we give you all the supplies needed. You can save the life of a puppy or dog! Other volunteers are on an as needed basis. Come out to an adoption event (see FB page) and meet us!

Southern Comfort Animal Rescue, Inc. is 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that rescues and rehomes abused, unwanted and abandoned companion animals. Located in Glenwood, Georgia. Southern Comfort fills a critical need in Wheeler County. The county is one of the most impoverished counties in the nation and lacks any animal control or shelters for unwanted animals. As a result, there are many stray dogs and puppies are abandoned on a daily basis. Southern Comfort is a "no-kill" rescue and only euthanizes in cases of irremediable suffering or vicious and dangerous animals.

Southern Comfort Animal Rescue, Inc. is 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that rescues and rehomes abused, unwanted and abandoned companion animals.
Southern Comfort was founded in 2001 in Savannah, Georgia, to provide shelter and find temporary foster or permanent homes for pets left behind when troops in nearby Ft. Stewart's 3rd Infantry Division shipped out to Iraq and Afghanistan.
In 2006, the organization moved to Glenwood, Georgia. Southern Comfort fills a critical need in Wheeler County. The county is one of the most impoverished counties in the nation and lacks any animal control or shelters for unwanted animals. As a result, there are many stray dogs and puppies are abandoned on a daily basis. Once a month, our Freedom Ride bus leaves Glenwood, GA and heads to All Good Dogs in Monmouth Junction, NJ to hold an Adoption Event for pre-approved applicants. Nothing is more heartworming than watching our rescue dogs go to their forever homes!

We also work to raise public awareness of the plight of homeless animals and promote the benefits of spaying/neutering and heartworm preventatives through community outreach and education.

- Must be at least 18
- Time commitment and hours are flexible. Fostering is short term commitment. Bring a puppy home for a weekend! Volunteers for events are on weekends. Administrative and graphics from your home, on your time!
- SoCo is a small rescue from rural Georgia where there are no other resources for unwanted dogs. Every month, we transport dogs and pups to NJ for adoption. We are a dog-loving and committed group looking to make the world a better place.
