The Planning Committee includes one Chair or Co-Chair team and other well-connected individuals that are responsible for the overall Strides event experience, including logistics. They typically start meeting in spring and meetings are one hour in duration. The Planning committee focus areas are as follows:

  • Pacesetter mentor lead - a current or prior year Pacesetter willing to share story and help motivate prior year and up and coming Pacesetters, as well as thank and encourage current year Pacesetters.
  • Registration lead - recruiting, coordinating and train registration day of volunteers for day of
  • Logistics lead- securing tents, equipment, monitoring set up/breakdown, etc.
  • Survivor & Caregiver lead - help with area during the day of - handing out information, etc.
  • Entertainment lead - securing entertainment for the day of (band, DJ, Emcee, dance groups, etc.)
  • Marketing and promotion lead - media, social, and print
  • Volunteer opportunities lead - recruit, train, and manage a group of volunteers who help to represent the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer program and event
    • Tabling events/3rd-party event representation
    • Event set up and breakdown
    • Making Strides Kickoff
    • Making Strides rallies and other community engagement activities
    • Corporate Kickoffs and other recruitment opportunities
    • Act as a spokesperson in the community for recruitment efforts, media opportunities, tabling opportunities, and overall community presence for the American Cancer Society as needed
