We are looking for caring adults to volunteer and become a mentor to a youth who is in need of social and emotional support. We have a safe and dedicated mentor center on each of the eight Sonoma Valley Unified School District Campuses where our matches meet for one hour during the academic school year. Our mentor centers have a trained staff member who will be a supportive resource for you during your mentoring relationship. Inside our mentor centers are games, art supplies, sports equipment and much more. Therefore all you need to do is come with a smile and have fun with your mentee!
In addition to the one hour a week in a mentor center, we put on enrichment activities should you want to participate. To name a few you can take a cooking class, go on a field trip to Point Reyes, and enjoy a nature hike.

Description
The Sonoma Valley Mentoring Alliance is in its 25th year of mentoring in Sonoma Valley, having begun in 1996. We are a school based mentoring program and have a safe and dedicated Mentor Center at each one of the eight Sonoma Valley Unified School District Campuses, where our matches meet for one hour a week. Our caring adult mentors are matched with children in need of social and emotional support. The matches are typically made when the child is in elementary school and the relationship stays together through high school graduation. For the past 6 years 100% of our high school seniors have graduated with a plan. Some attend a four year university, a two year college, trade school, and others go directly into the workforce.
In addition to the one-on-one mentoring that occurs during the academic year, we also put on program activities to strengthen the relationship and introduce our mentees to new experiences. We host art and cooking classes, fitness programs, field trips to farms and beaches, and much more!
For our older mentees we have a Roadmap program where we visit local businesses such as the Sonoma Valley Hospital, The Lodge at Sonoma Hotel, and also places like Salesfore, Google and Apple.
Since our inception we have proudly overseen 2,000 matches.
