Description
VHS Hospice Services of NJ serves patients in Passaic, Bergen, and Hudson counties. We are an affiliate of Hackensack Meridian Health. Hospice is a philosophy of care that focuses on improving the quality of life for individuals with life-limiting illness. Hospice care is provided in the home, hospital, or a facility setting. Volunteers provide companionship and respite by visiting patients and families, as well as office, clerical, and bereavement support. Companionship can entail reading to patients, watching TV, playing cards, or simply sitting with them for support. Office volunteers can complete clerical work such as filing and copying in our Totowa office location. Bereavement volunteers provide support through phone calls and letters. Volunteers have the option of partaking in any individual, or multiple types of volunteering. We provide all training prior to interested volunteers visiting patients.
