We are looking to recruit volunteer play buddies for Fall 2023 and Spring 2024. Volunteers are paired with up to 3 children for 30 minute 1:1 play sessions at the same day and time each week. We partner with RCSD and surrounding schools in Greece, and East Rochester. Please see our schedule below. Our mission is to strengthen young children’s social and emotional development using child-directed play that empowers empathic adults to understand them.

Description

G2 is a non-profit that pairs trained volunteers with K-2 students for child-directed play sessions. Child-directed play allows the child to make the rules, change the rules and lead during a play session and aids in their social and emotional development. Volunteers are paired with up to 3 children for consecutive 30 minute, 1:1 play sessions from October to May. We currently partner with RCSD and other surrounding schools in Greece, East Irondequoit and East Rochester.

  • The time commitment is 2 hours per week which includes 3 consecutive 30 minute play sessions, post-play discussion of the session, and journaling about the sessions.
