The Volunteer Services Council of TCID invites you to be a part of our campus beautification project. Volunteers are an integral part of this endeavor, and we are hoping for an overwhelming community response. We are excited to see community residents, businesses, and service organizations come together to support the TCID campus.

TCID’s mission is to medically, behaviorally and socially treat tuberculosis and Hansen’s disease patients and advance the nation’s prevention and treatment of infectious disease through person-centered care, collaboration, research, and education.

We will have several beautification projects lined up including upkeep on our outdoor patient vegetable garden (remove old/dead plants and plant new ones, paint garden beds, etc), upkeep on our outpatient care water feature (remove old dead plants/wash water feature, repaint), upkeep on two indoor garden spaces (repaint, plant new flowers), and more!

Description

Volunteer programs have been an important part of the Texas Center for Infectious Disease (TCID) since 1953, when the San Antonio State Tuberculosis Hospital was established. Volunteers are involved in providing opportunities and activities for the patients, assisting staff with ongoing service projects, fundraising initiatives, and more

The Volunteer Service Council provides services through the generosity of community agencies, civil organizations, private donors and grants while working within authorities granted by DSHS and state law.
