Position: Volunteer Accountants (approximately 25 - 30 hours per month)

Supports: Treasurer and Executive Director

Penn's Village is part of a growing national trend, community-based organizations that link neighbor to neighbor so that older adults who may need a little assistance with everyday tasks can be connected, safe and active. Penn’s Village serves central Philadelphia; we are the first Village in the Philadelphia area. We are seeking one or two Volunteer Accountants to perform a variety of duties related to maintaining our accounting and member records.

The Accountant(s) will maintain the accounting records of the organization using the QuickBooks Online (QBO) applications and perform all necessary analyses and reconciliations. Primary duties include assisting the Treasurer and Executive Director with accounting duties to include:

Record member contributions and dues and other transactions, including expenses, in QBO

Perform banking functions as required

Maintain financial and other documentation

Using customized QBO reports and Excel extracts, analyze data and prepare reports for management

Perform other analyses, including developing information for matching grants, grant applications and other management information as needed

Prepare documents and financial information for the outside accountant annually

The responsibilities will be divided based upon the experience level and time availability of the volunteers selected. If divided, they may be split between bookkeeping/data input functions and analytical functions, with a higher level of expertise required for the analytical functions. A minimum of two years of Accounting experience and experience with QBO or other accounting system is required. Knowledge of Excel is required for the analytical functions. Strong organizational skills and an attention to detail are a must. The incumbent(s) can work from home and must have access to a computer with internet access. Timing is flexible with certain deadlines and should require approximately 25-30 hours per month for the two positions in total.

Penn’s Village has three goals:
-To help those growing older remain in their homes, comfortably and enjoyably, for as long as they’d like
