Bridges Hospice and Palliative Care is seeking compassionate volunteers and their companion pets to serve hospice patients who are nearing the end of life. Companion pet volunteers assist in facilities by providing companionship and support to the patient and his or her family through regular visits. Companion pet volunteers may also visit hospice patients who reside in their home.
Bridges Hospice cares for terminally ill patients and their families through a team-based approach. Hospice care addresses the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the patient and family with doctors, nurses, aids, social workers, chaplains and volunteers.
Companion pet volunteers are an essential part of the hospice care team, providing respite and support to family members who are sometimes overwhelmed by caring for their loved one. A few hours of your time weekly can make a significant difference in the quality of life for the patient as well as their family.
We provide comprehensive training on how to support hospice patients and their families as well as ongoing support and training for volunteers on our companion pet volunteer team. Volunteers must complete the required training and are asked to commit to 2-4 hours of service weekly.More opportunities with Bridges Hospice & Palliative Care
